Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) are legal documents that appoint trusted people to deal with these aspects of your life for you if you are unable to do so. There are two types – one to deal with your property and finance, and another to deal with healthcare. They can be created ahead of time, so that if you become ill or unable to manage your affairs, they are ready to be used. The Government’s registration fee is currently £82 per LPA. There are two Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), but you do not necessarily need to create both. The registration fee is reduced for those who can show that they are receiving certain benefits.
